Thechangetrend Online chatted up with the talented comedian Ibiam Dickson popularly known as Bishop Dickson among his fans.
Below are the interview with The Change Trend Television (TCTV).
TCTV: Goodmorning, can we meet you?
Bishop: My name is Ibiam Dickson popularly known as Bishop Dickson. i am a comedian/mc/compere, presently a student of Osun state polytechnic studying mass communication, I also run a little scale business in school.
TCTV: Who would you say are your influences in the comedy world?
Bishop: My influence in the comedy world are Damola,kennyblaq,saco and basketmouth.
TCTV: What is one of your more embarrassing memories from childhood?
Bishop: My embarrassing moment from child hood…
I had this group of friends in school, we will use #50 to get things worth of #200 in a shop close to our school you should understand what we do. one day I decided to try it on my own I never knew the woman little daughter was looking at me after I had paid what the woman saw me taking as I was about leaving the little girl pointed at me and stated shouting ole!!! they had to search me and reported me to the school authority I felt so embarrassed the worst is does my friends started laughing at me, that happened because God wanted me to stop that since then I never tried it even when my friends are going I won’t go with them…
TCTV: Why are you the way that you are?
Bishop: I never wanted to be a comedian, I wanted to be a musician. it was actually in 2010 I was forced by my friends (who think i was funny) to anchor a program my elderly brother David usually anchor in secondary(Ikotun Senior High School) before he passed out, after then the school liked me I became their official mc, it was from there I started having events outside the school. God,my parent Rev and Mrs ibiam chukwu, my very good friend C’Wave who is also a comedian and my personal person Hannah Ikems has been my backbone. I also got the inspiration from one of my Fathers Pastor Ola Peters and one of my mentors in the comedy industry Damola to be an impact to people and the younger generation
TCTV: What is your favorite event and why?
Bishop: My favourite event is actually more than one, let me share this one.
my first major comedy and music concert in 2016 Laff and Praise with Bishop Dickson And Akobi, which we had over 500people in attendance, the favourite part of the event is we had over 50people who gave there life to Christ, isn’t that glorious?
TCTV: What is your favorite place to hang out?
Bishop: My favourite place to handout is Ikeja shopping mall
TCTV: What inspired you to venture into comedy?
My elder brother David who is also a comedian
TCTV: Where do you see yourself in the industry in the next 5 years?
Bishop: I see myself in the next 5years as a well established business man and comedian in Nigeria, having a great platform to reach out to people. I guess I should also be planing to get married lolzz…
TCTV: What are the challenges facing upcoming entertainers? Profound solution.
Bishop: Challenges facing upcoming entertainers is, most of them are not focus, no platforms,money conscious and no sponsors but to all this they are solutions as an up and coming entertainer you really need to be focus, know what you are doing and what you want, be yourself and always pray and believe in God. platform won’t just come you have to create platform for yourself, let people know what you can offer and you should always do it at your best no matter how small it is. Money!!! make una leave money for now the money go surely come just gain your grand and also make sure you are making impact.
