* We still have a long way to go in Nigeria - pdp chieftain .
* Religious Leaders Bias Over My Election Bid -Atiku.
APC Are Manipulating Nigerians Against Us.- Barrister Ayodele.
Speaking at the campaign rally today, the candidate of people Democratic Party (PDP) in a sober mood made a shocking statement that High profile Nigerians from Religion bodies and palaces want him out of presidential race at all cost.
Speaking at the campaign, Still said despite all round pressure, I am not going to give away my portion for a plate of meal. I will give it final fight and I am sure I will win, One with God is greater than high profile Nigerians, Atiku said.
Some notable Nigerians condemned Atiku statements, they ask him to mention the name of such high profile Nigerians if truly the allegations is true.
Also reacting to allegations around him over united States corruption allegations Former Nigerian vice president and the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar said he may not visit the United States any time soon.
“What will I even go to do in America,” Abubakar said .
The opposition candidate is being dogged by allegations of corruption.
He and his fourth wife Jennifer Douglas, an American citizen, were allegedly indicted in 2010in a 328-page American Senate committee report for transferring over $40 million “suspect funds” to America from offshore accounts between 2002 and 2008.
Abubakar served as Nigerian vice president between 199 and 2007.
“Ms Douglas helped her husband bring over $40 million in suspect funds into the United States, including at least $1.7 million in bribe payments from Siemens AG, a German corporation, and over $38 million from little known offshore corporations, primarily LetsGo Ltd. Inc., Guernsey Trust Company Nigeria Ltd., and Sima Holding Ltd,” the Carl Levin-led Permanent Subcommittee on Investigation said on page 173 of its report.
Although Abubakar has not visited the United States since he was indicted, he has maintained that he did nothing wrong.
He insisted he can be Nigerian president without visiting America, one of Nigeria’s most important allies.
In November, the Director General of the Atiku campaign organisation, have hinted that Abubakar would get a U.S. visa if he applies for one.
In the same vein, Osinkolu who reacted to ongoing tussle between Atiku and president Buhari also warned all the member of APC to embrace peace and reconciliation committee he also persuaded the aggrieved members of the party to embrace the ongoing reconciliation moves of the party and work for the victory of the senatorial, House of representatives and House of assembly candidates in the elections .
He contended that four years were too short a period to rate the capacity of President Buhari to deliver democratic dividends to Nigerians, saying according him the second term opportunity would afford the president the benefit to consolidate the gains of democracy for Nigerians.
“The PDP itself knew that the issue of corruption will work against Atiku, because up to now, no court had cleared him of the allegations that the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF)and Bureau of Public Enterprises(BPE) put under him as Vice President under Olusegun
Obasanjo’s administration were not badly managed.
“Under PDP 16 years reign, where Atiku served as Vice President, a sum of $16b was spent on power sector, despite Nigeria was in darkness.
“Nigerians voted against PDP in 2015 elections because of corruption and they brought President Buhari, a man they could trust. So, the salient question is, has PDP changed? Nigerians can’t return to the era when our monies were being looted by few people.
“President Buhari promised that Nigeria’s monies would be for Nigerians and he is doing just that. It will be a great miscalculation for Nigerians who suffered for 16 years under PDP to turn around and bring the party back to power, I know such would not happen because Nigerians are wiser now”, he said.
Osinkolu said he has put the crisis caused by alleged manipulation of the senatorial primary in Ekiti North behind him in the interest of the party.
“I urge all my supporters across the 56 wards from Ekiti North to work for the party, because I know that division will only weaken the party and reduce its strength ahead of the forthcoming election.
“Our leader and governor , Dr. Kayode Fayemi won the 2018 governorship election because APC was united and you saw what happened to PDP that was polarized in the same election, so unity is key to our success in 2019.
“As for me, I won’t betray APC or do anything that could create crisis for Governor Fayemi, because APC remains one indissoluble family.”
