Irrespective of any reservations or sentiments against the outcome of Ekiti governorship election, the election has come and gone. The peaceful conducts and electorates comportment throughout the state deserves some accolade.
As one of the key player on the field before and during the election, I can only suggest a need to re-orientate our citizenry towards voter’s education, awareness and apathy. While the immediate blame for ‘highly-intense voters-inducement’ could be shifted on electorates attitude, poverty, ignorance; every responsible government should as a matter of fact direct and redirect all its policies towards alleviating poverty and lack in the society.
The coming of Fayemi symbolises good omen and a return to decency in governance, notwithstanding the expectations are very high and he may need to do more to leave behind a good name to himself and the party this time. It is not proper to preempt the likely economical sabotage that might have been incurred by the current government, Fayemi should deploy appropriate ‘but unbiased’ professionals to conduct “engine audit of Fayose’s government’ in the last four years.
Rather than engaging on revenge mission, blame game and endless probing, I will advise the new government to focus on people oriented programs that could better the lot of entire populace and take the state out of her current WHO/WB on LE/GDP. The rural-urban renewal and Y CAD programs should be reactivated and well-propagated, while government should immediately take advantage of federal government Anchor Borrower facility to boost ‘Igbemo Rice’ production up-to international standard.
