Government is impressed with the amount of progress made by Sunbird Bioenergy Africa at its 20,000-hectare cassava project in Kawambwa Chitondo area.
Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa says the planting of the initial 120 hectares of cassava nurseries is a demonstration of how serious Sunbird is about the project.
Mr Chilangwa said the project is also in line with Governments determination to fulfill its promise of industrializing Luapula Province.
The Minister was speaking when he addressed the first group of workers that have been employed by the company.
And Kawambwa District Commissioner Ivo Mpasa said the Sunbird project will uplift the lives of the people of Kawambwa.
And speaking on behalf of the workers, Collins Kabila thanked government for creating job opportunities for Kawambwa residents.
