Fast rising Nigerian Gospel artiste Olalekan popular known as AKOBI who celebrated his birthday recently has count his blessings and wishes that his songs is being played across the world as long as people are getting the message and their lives are being changed.
The singer made this known in a chat with TheChangeTrend.Com where he also talked about his career as a gospel singer, the problems that come with being a gospel artist and a whole lot more.

What is the meaning of your stage name?
Akobi means Firstborn in Yoruba language, God told Moses that the Israelite are His first born. That’s were I got it from and that is what i have always been called.
What inspires your music?
Life, Nature,sorrow and blessings
What genre of Music do you do and people who influence you?
I do Afrocentric traditional music. Sammie okposu, Sunny Badu, Bola Are and many more has greatly influenced me.
Since when have you started doing Music?
Have been doing music since when I was 8 years but professionally over 13 years now
How did you form your band?
I started the first group in 2005 with my friends but we all went our different ways doing different types of music but in 2008 I started Akobi and the tribe of praise in osun state.
Which notable place you have perform live?
I have ministered and perform in places like jazz festival Lagos, Black Praise concert Ghana, worship explosion in South Africa and many more. Akobi live on stage and our yearly mega concert, Jesus swagger
I do Jesu mi ga and Juwonlo from my album.
Who writes songs for you?
I write my songs, most of the topics of my song are centered on the greatness of God.
Looking back from when you just started and now, how do you rate yourself and your music?
It has evolved from just a choir member to a vocalist now to a gospel artist and mentor…God be praised
What are the biggest challenges for you?
Funds and marketing has been the biggest challenge for me because recording your songs in a good studio cost a lot and after you are done you can’t be listening to it all by yourself, so that’s where marketing comes in but thank God for social media.
Where do you see yourself in the next 10years?
Majorly is to see life transformed by my songs.. In the next 10 years I see myself having influence within and outside the country and to be one of the major stake holders in the music industry.
What advise do you have for the young and upcoming gospel artist out there?
Believe in yourself and stay focus on your vision. Prayerfully choose your team members and reharse as if you wil not pray then pray as if you wil not Rehas and always stay humble.
