The Human Rights Commission says it is deeply concerned with the continued attacks of persons living with Albinism for various unknown seasons.
Human Rights Commission Chairperson, Mudford Mwandenga says it is disheartening that the lives of people living with albinism have continued to be threatened.
Mr. Mwandenga has explained that the Human Rights Commission views the attacks as a serious violation of human rights, saying a solution to this growing trend urgently needs to be found.
He was speaking in Mazabuka, Southern province, when he paid a courtesy call at the Office of the District Chairperson for Persons living with Disabilities.
This was at the end of the Human Rights Commission’s tour of Southern province.
Mr. Mwandenga added that the commission is investigating circumstances, which led to the cutting of an albino woman’s hand in Lundazi, Eastern province.
